Silicone implant contracture

24 December 2017 / / Wonder Breast Channel

As mentioned before, capsular contracture is one of the most common complications that you might get if you undergo breast augmentation. If you are afraid of having capsular contracture, then the breast implant procedure is not for you. This is because you cannot prevent the occurrence of capsular contracture because it is unavoidable. However, the possibility of having this condition still depends on the type of implant that will be used in the surgery. In most cases, capsular contracture happens in silicone implant. Even if this is the case, you cannot choose the saline implant because the type of the implant that will be used in the surgery will still depend on your anatomy and your aesthetic needs.

Three things have been determined to increase the chance of capsular contracture. The first one is if you develop a hematoma, bleeding after surgery with blood clots and blood around the implant. This is because the bleeding causes inflammation. Anything that makes your breast inflamed will increase the chances of developing a capsule that contract. In this case, the surgeon’s technique is very important when it comes to breast augmentation. The surgeon should know that the lesser bleeding is, the lesser chance of developing a capsular contracture will be.

The second factor is an infection. According to some studies, some capsules have bacteria with subclinical infection. If this is used, it will create an inflammation that results in a capsular contracture. This is why surgeons recommend the patients to take preoperative antibiotics prior to implant placement. The last one is the one mentioned before, the silicone implant. Silicone particles can migrate through the silicone shell, and silicone by itself can promote inflammation. Even though there are few factors that can cause capsular contracture, you do not have to fear having breast implant because it is a safe procedure which is a popular worldwide.
