Nowadays there are few women satisfied with the appearance of their breasts. Most women want their breasts to be bigger, smaller, perkier, and the list could go on for pages. It is only natural to strive for better, especially when the image of our bodies is very important nowadays. Numerous studies have connected the beautiful appearance of the body with being more successful, including in the professional field. So it is normal for women to want to improve the appearance of their bodies by enhancing certain features or correcting imperfections.
The breasts are one of the most important features of a woman’s anatomy. They are associated with femininity, sex appeal, and many times they represent the essence of womanhood from a physical point of view. When the breasts are not up to par with our expectations, the woman can develop emotional complexes that can affect her day-to-day life and her personal growth. This is the reason why plastic surgery is very sought after nowadays to provide relief from the discomforts associated with having small or saggy breasts.
A common request from women nowadays is more volume and perkiness for the breasts. Often with the natural passing of time, breasts start descending on the chest wall and the appearance of an empty breast occurs. With time, the breasts lose their perkiness as the upper pole looks empty and the volume of the breasts is concentrated under the level of the inframammary fold. This is not a pleasant sight, and it can create an overall old-looking appearance for the woman.
The good news is that nowadays we can get more volume and perkiness for the breasts in a simple way, through a breast lift with implants. This procedure is quite frequently requested nowadays, and it takes less than three hours to be performed. General anesthesia is often used for mastopexy with implants and the recovery period is no longer than two weeks.
A breast lift with implants is recommended for patients who are confronted with sagginess of the breasts but also want to increase the size of the breasts at the same time. When this procedure is performed, the plastic surgeon will remove the excess skin tissue, re-center the mammary gland, reduce the size of enlarged areolas, and insert implants under the mammary gland or the pectoral muscle to augment the breasts.
When mastopexy is performed without implants, the breasts might look a bit smaller after the procedure due to the elevation of the breasts and the removal of the skin tissue in excess. For patients with small breasts, this could be a problem, hence the recommendation to use implants to enhance the breasts at the same time while correcting the sagginess. The procedure is safe and the breast implants used by board-certified plastic surgeons are FDA approved.
