Hi, this is Dr. Hourglass, and welcome to another video in our channel Wonder Breasts. Today we are going to discuss: Allergan 410 breast implants and the gummy bear implant. In this channel we discuss everything related to breast surgery.
Welcome back! The gummy bear implant is a popular silicone implant that remains stable in terms of its shape even when it is cut in half. It stays consistent like gummy bear candies, hence the name gummy bear. The FDA approved them for use in breast augmentation in 2012.
Gummy bear implants are popular because they make the breasts look and feel natural. They are considered to be relatively safer, and the risk of implant rupture is lower than other types of implants. Even if the implant ruptures, the silicone gel will not spread to other areas of the body.
Compared to typical silicone and saline implants, gummy bears are less prone to rippling. As such, it is also a good option for a breast augmentation revision surgery.
On the downside, gummy bear implants require relatively larger incisions to be inserted into the breasts. Since it is an anatomical implant, it can distort the shape of the breast in case it rotates. Also, gummy bear implants are costlier than regular silicone and saline implants.
The Allergan 410 is a type of gummy bear implant that was first designed in 1989; however, it hit the market in 1992 and was made worldwide available in 1993. The FDA approved the implants in 2013.
The Allergan 410 implant has a teardrop shape. It is designed to match the human breast shape, surface, and weight. The shell is filled with a highly consistent silicone gel that is expected to make the upper area of the breast more voluminous. It is also designed to give maintain its contour sustainably.
The surface of the Allergan 410 implant is textured. They are available in a number of heights and sizes. The height of the implant is measured from the top to the bottom while the projection is measured on the basis of its extension away from the chest wall.
Whether the Allergan 410 implants will suit you depend on your aesthetic goals and existing anatomy of the breasts. The plastic surgeon will examine your breasts and know your goals to tell you exactly whether the implants are suitable for you.
